NHS England Innovation and Technology Tariff: benefits of adoption - Non-injectable arterial connector and PneuX

31 January 2018 Postgraduate Education Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Mindelsohn Way, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 2TH

This event is for NHS employees only.

Learn how NHS England’s Innovation and Technology Tariff (ITT) is helping trusts to implement pneumonia prevention systems which are designed to stop ventilator-associated pneumonia and arterial connecting systems to reduce bacterial contamination and the accidental administration of medication, at this WMAHSN interactive workshop. NHS England’s ITT incentivises the adoption and spread of transformational innovation in the NHS. NHS providers order the ITT innovations directly from the supplier at no cost and NHS England reimburses the supplier directly.

The WMAHSN is supporting the adoption and spread of the ITT, and we are hosting a series of events to introduce NHS staff to the innovations along with some tools for implementation. The event will provide the opportunity to hear from other NHS trusts who have successfully adopted the tariffs and meet with your peers to practically think about how they can be implemented within your own organisation.

This is the first workshop and it will be introducing two innovative devices:

  • Non-injectable arterial connector (NIC) - Arterial connecting systems to reduce bacterial contamination and the accidental administration of medication, available to providers under the zero cost model
  • PneuX - Pneumonia prevention systems which are designed to stop ventilator-associated pneumonia, which can be ordered direct from the manufacturer under the zero cost model.

Delegates will be able to:

  • Learn about the Innovation and Technology Tariff
  • Discuss the drivers for change - including counting the cost of the current pathways and openly discussing the challenges of the current clinical pathways
  • Learn more about the Non-injectable arterial connector, including the clinical case
  • Learn more about PneuX and WireSafe, including the clinical case
  • Learn more about implementing pathway change and hear more about the tools available to support this process

This event is for NHS employees only. This event is aimed at consultants, senior Critical Care Unit nursing/physiotherapy staff, clinical trainers, procurement and infection control staff.
