Digital health start-ups and scale-ups offered support to expand into US market

The EIT Health GoGlobal DigiHealth internationalisation programme will support European start-ups and scale-ups active in the domain of digital health to expand their activities to the US market.

The ideal company to benefit from the programme is active in the domain of digital health and is about to enter into an international expansion phase on primarily the US market. It should have a proven product, ideally combined with generated revenue or at least one customer in the (home) market. They do not have to sell much, but they should at least have proved that the product/service works and that customers are willing to pay for it. The companies should fit the overall EIT Health thematic scope, ‘Healthy living, active ageing, improved healthcare’, and be based in the geographical area covered by the EIT Health CLCs - which includes the UK.

The main part of the programme is a five-day deep dive programme - “Silicon Valley Digital Health Global Entrepreneurs’ Forum (DHGEF)” - in the Silicon Valley area (19 - 23 September 2016 – dates subject to minor change). The programme will tackle specific challenges European health start-ups are faced with when establishing a sustainable business and entering the US market. Five major themes will be addressed during the  deep dive:

  • Building a successful health company
  • US market entry and sales strategy for healthcare
  • Regulatory environment and evidence-based validation
  • Healthcare business models and financials
  • Silicon Valley fundraising.

The format will be lectures combined with workshops, fireside chats and panel discussions. The programme will be combined with a guided tour of key healthcare facilities and companies, meet-ups, networking events, a pitching session and (optional) participation to a relevant conference, Health 2.0 at Silicon Valley on 25 - 28 September. There will also be follow-up coaching after the deep dive programme.

There is a €1500 participation fee per company and EIT Health will grant each participating company €1500 in support for travelling.
