Graduates into Health: NHS Graduate Digital, Data & Technology scheme

Published on 9 March 2021

Digital, data and technology roles have never been more crucial to the NHS as we work to repair our healthcare system and improve vital clinical services during and following the pandemic. NHSX and NHSE see digital solutions as critical to the restoration of outpatient and elective care, as well as dealing with the tremendous backlog of referrals and patients awaiting treatment. However, the scale of this digital transformation and implementation requires capacity and resourcing.

Working with the Health Innovation Network’s Graduates into Health team, you can adopt a ‘grow your own talent model’ to recruit bright graduates and develop technical specialists for your organisation.

The scheme, commissioned by Health Education England as part of its Digital Readiness programme and supported by NHSX, is a highly focused development pathway for digital, data and technology graduates to become the next NHS middle managers and beyond, with 99% of current participants tracking toward Band 6/7. It has now expanded to every region in England and recruited talented graduates/post-graduates for more than 20 trusts and health care providers.
