The Health Innovation West Midlands are running a series of free virtual workshops to help GPs, Pharmacists and other Healthcare Professionals who undertake prescribing, medication reviews and de-prescribing on a regular basis, to understand the complex issues surrounding stopping inappropriate medicines safely.

The Polypharmacy Action Learning Set is an evidence-based learning model developed by the Health Innovation Network Network in partnership with Health Education England and has been proven to increase the skill, knowledge and confidence of the primary care workforce to tackle complex medicine regimes and to promote shared decision making.

The workshops will also help Primary Care Networks (PCNs) deliver the medicines optimisation elements of the new Directed Enhanced Services (DES) contract and contributes to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).

Workshop details

  • Delivered as Three virtual workshops, lasting 2.5 hours each. (Individuals must attend all 3)
  • Open to primary care prescribers with a minimum of 12 months prescribing experience including:
  • General Practitioners
  • Pharmacist Independent Prescribers
  • Other Non-Medical Prescribers
  • Pre-registration is required using the links below
  • Spaces are limited.Please register as soon as possible as all previous cohorts have been oversubscribed.
  • If you cannot make cohort 6 or 7, please still register on the waiting list today as it is likely that spaces will fill up before the future dates are finalised. There will be flexibility to select suitable dates down the line if you are on the waiting list.
