Guidance for Applicants
What is the Safety Innovation and Improvement Fund?
Individuals and teams from health and social care organisations within the WMAHSN geography are invited to apply for up to £20K to support the spread or adoption of an innovation or improvement over a six-month period, resulting in improvements for patients and service users.
Alongside the provision of funding, we will support a limited number of successful teams to use Quality Improvement (QI) methodology, which they will be encouraged to use in their work following the completion of their projects.
Which project areas will be funded?
Health and social care teams will be able to bid for funding to support:
● The adoption of an innovation or improvement intervention
● The spread of an innovation or improvement intervention to one or more adopter sites
● The testing and refining of an innovation or improvement intervention in partnership with one or more adopter sites
This year, we are keen to support applications with focus on:
• Managing patient/service user deteriorationMedicines safety
• Maternity and Neonatal
• Mental Health
• COPD/Asthma, Other respiratory diseases
• Care Homes

The application process including any correspondence relating to your application or interview will be managed through the WMAHSN Meridian website.
Any applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
Application timeline
Applications open – Thursday 9th December 2021
Applications close – Sunday 9th January 2022, midnight
Application shortlisting and applicants informed – by 21st January 2022
Interviews – 2nd/3rd or 9th February 2022 (specific date to be confirmed)
Outcome of interview – by 17th February 2022
Return of project plans from successful applicants by 1st March 2022.
